How many 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T models were made?

My son and I love restoring classic cars, but so far we’ve gone for cheaper ones. Our dream is to find a 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T, but we haven’t had much luck finding one. How many were made?

It may not be as famous as some other legendary muscle cars like the
Pontiac GTO
or
Ford Mustang
, but the Dodge Coronet R/T is just as powerful. It might be harder to hunt one down, though Of the total 1,983 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T models that were produced:
  • 219 of them were HEMI-powered
  • 519 of them were convertibles
  • 431 of them had automatic transmissions
  • 88 of them had four-speed manual transmissions
The R/T version of the Dodge Coronet was first introduced in 1967, and it featured a 7.2-liter V8 engine, the largest of its time. Its design was revised in 1968 and an optional Hemi V8 engine—called the Magnum—bumped up the available power to 425 hp. With this Hemi engine, the Coronet bolted from ** zero to 60 mph in a mere 5.3 seconds**.
If you’re searching for a well-preserved ‘68 Coronet R/T, though, get ready to fork over a decent amount of money. These cars can cost anywhere from $60,000 to a whopping $100,000, depending on their condition. Most of these models will have rebuilt engines, but you can expect most to be just as powerful as the original models.
