How long will a DUI stay on my driving record in Washington DC?

My insurance rates are impossible to keep up with since a few months ago when I got a DUI. I’m waiting for them to drop again, but I don’t think that will happen until the DUI is off my record. Exactly how long should a DUI stay on my driving record in Washington DC?

Driving under the influence (DUI)
is such a serious offense Washington DC that it stays on your driving record for 10 years. While some violations are minor and can be expunged from your record after completing defensive driving courses or court-mandated community service, DUIs cannot be expunged from your record.
Of course, if you manage to go 10 years without getting another DUI, it will automatically be removed from your record. But if you rack up a second violation, the DUI will stay on your record for an additional 10 years from the date of your second offense. Any subsequent violations could warrant enormous fines and make the DUI a permanent addition to your driving record.
Driving is dangerous enough, even when you’re sober. More than 38,000 people are killed each year in major car accidents across the US, and many more are left with severe injuries. Hopping behind the wheel of a car when you aren’t in full control could be extremely dangerous for yourself and others.
But try not to worry. So long as you keep a
clean record
from here on out, your rates and record should go back to normal in no time. Plus, you can always use the
