How long will a DUI stay on my driving record in Tennessee?

My friends and I were in downtown Nashville, and well, things got a bit crazy…and I ended up with a DUI. Will a DUI conviction ever come off of my Tennessee driving record?

A
DUI conviction
stays on your
Tennessee driving record
for life. You can be charged with a DUI if you drive with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08% or more, and the consequences are no walk in the park.
In
Tennessee
, a first-time DUI offender faces the following penalties:
  • Fined $350 and $1,500
  • Revoked license
    for one year
  • Ignition Interlock Device with restricted license (minimum $1,000)
  • Imprisonment for 48 hours to 12 months
  • Mandatory treatment program
Tennessee also has something called a “look-back period,” which means if your first DUI is over 10 years old, it won’t count toward the punishment if you commit a second offense—because repeat offenses come with more serious consequences.
DUI convictions on your record are sure to raise your
