How long should a car run after getting a jump?

I missed an appointment this morning because my car wouldn't start. I called my friend to come give it a jump. My car is running now, but I'm not sure if I can drive it yet. How long does it take to charge your battery after jumpstarting your car?

After getting a jump, you should leave your car running for at least 30 minutes.
For more reliable results, drive it around instead of letting it idle. This should fully charge the battery so it won’t die on you again.
If your
battery dies regularly
, keep an eye out for symptoms of a weak or failing car battery, like:
If you notice any of these happening to your car, then you likely need to
replace your battery
.
However, it’s also possible that you may have a
bad alternator rather than a bad battery.
Consult a mechanic to find out what’s going on.
