How long is Volkswagen’s warranty?

Car maintenance is expensive and good car warranties are something I look for. How long does Volkswagen’s warranty last?

Volkswagen
new car warranty lasts for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Before 2021 Volkswagen offered one of the most extensive new car warranties around—6 years or 72,000 miles.
Alas, it is no more. But VW’s new car warranty is still quite comprehensive in what it covers.
Here’s what you get with Volkswagen’s revamped 4-year / 50,000-mile new car warranty:
  • Battery—3 years / 36,000 miles
  • Corrosion perforation—7 years / 100,000 miles
  • Brake pads—1 year / 12,000 miles
  • Halogen and Xenon bulbs—3 years / 36,000 miles
  • Other bulbs—1 year / 12,000 miles
  • Paint—3 years / 36,000 miles
  • Mechanical adjustments—1 year / 12,000 miles
  • Roadside assistance—3 years / 36,000 miles
  • Key fob battery—1 year / 12,000 miles
  • Wiper blades—1 year / 12,000 miles (6 months / 6,000 miles for wear and tear)
  • Wheel and tire balance—Upon initial customer inspection
Volkswagen also added 2 years or 20,000 miles of ‘carefree maintenance’ as a sort of make-up for the reduction in length. This includes two annually scheduled inspections and two annual oil changes.
The scope of the warranty is still quite good despite the reduced length. Regular maintenance is key to keeping your cost of car ownership down, and when a manufacturer covers as much maintenance as Volkswagen does, it goes a long way to keeping customers happy.
