How long is driving school in Massachusetts?

They’ve started requiring driver’s ed for minors who want to get their license. How long is driving school in Massachusetts? I’ll be 18 in about a year and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it.

The required driving school program in
Massachusetts
includes:
  • 30 hours of classroom time
  • 12 hours of driving behind the wheel
  • 6 hours of backseat observation
This brings the total required hours for driving school to 48 hours.
It’s also a good idea to keep in mind that taking driver’s ed makes you a much safer driver. Drivers who don't obey Massachusetts traffic laws often face
license suspension
or revocation, and in some cases, points against their
driving record
.
In driver's education courses, you’ll learn more about the rules of the road, what to do in a hazardous situation, and how to avoid unsafe behaviors, which can lead to
car accidents
.
Even if you’d rather just wait until you turn 18 to get your license, driving school could help, no matter your age.
