How long does truck driving school take?

I want to go to truck driving school to improve my driving skills and get a higher-paying job when I graduate. However, I want to graduate as soon as I can to start earning an income. How long does trucking driving school normally take if I’m a new student?

The true answer to how long truck driving school takes lies in several factors. But generally speaking, you can expect to take three to seven weeks to graduate from a normal program or up to six months for a more advanced program or designation.
Some of the factors that go into how long driving school takes include:
  • What type of endorsements you want
  • Whether you want to drive an automatic or manual truck (or both)
  • Your natural abilities
  • Your availability
  • Classroom hours, which can range from 30 to 80 hours depending on the program
  • Driving lessons, which can take 30 to 80 hours depending on the program
  • Full-time or part-time options
