How long does it take to transfer a car title?

How long will it take to transfer a car title to someone else? I bought a new car, so I am selling my old Jeep to my sister. I’m working on completing the title transfer. But my sister is wondering how long it will take so she can start using the car.

How long it takes to process a car title will vary by state. The processing time can range between two to six weeks.
That being said, usually you can expect to get the new title in the mail within two weeks.
If you haven’t completed a title transfer yet, remember to check with your DMV to find out if they require any specific documents. In addition, keep in mind that most states have a deadline to complete the transfer. If you do not meet that deadline, there will be a penalty fee.
If you or your sister still need to insure your new vehicle, Jerry can provide you with competitive quotes in under a minute. Jerry will even take care of all the paperwork and phone calls once you pick a policy and price that works for you! The average Jerry user saves $879 a year on car insurance.
