It usually only takes two to ten business days to start driving for Lyft.
Signing up is the easy part—just log onto Lyft and follow the prompts. Applying to drive should only take about 15 to 30 minutes.
During your application, you’ll be asked to provide:
Your name and contact information
Your driver’s license number and a photo of your license
Vehicle make, model, year, and registration information (if you plan to use your own vehicle)
Any other requested information and/or documents
After you enter your information and upload any necessary documents, Lyft reviews your application and runs a background check. If you pass the background check, one of two things will happen:
If you plan to drive your own car, you’ll be asked to schedule a vehicle inspection.
If you plan to use one of Lyft’s flexible rentals through the Lyft Express Drive program, no inspection will be necessary.
From start to finish, the process to sign up and start driving for Lyft can take up to two weeks, but many drivers find themselves with their first fare within just a couple of days.
