How long does it take to put a transmission in?

So, I just dropped my car off at the mechanic a few hours ago to have a new transmission installed. How long does it usually take to put a new transmission into a car? I’m just wondering how long I’ll be without a car.

How long it takes to put a transmission in will depend on the type of transmission you have. For most cars, it should only take one to two days to install a transmission. For some late-model cars, however, it could take three or even four days.
