How long does it take to fully charge a Tesla?

I want to join the electric vehicle revolution, and I’m looking to buy a Tesla. However, I’m comparing charging times before I decide to pull the trigger. How long should it take to get a full charge on a Tesla?

Shopping around for an electric vehicle is always exciting! But it’s hard to say exactly how long a Tesla takes to charge because charging times vary between chargers. In general, you can expect to charge your Tesla in anywhere from 15 minutes to 40 hours.
To understand the time discrepancy, you need to know about the different charger types. You have two main options for home charging:
  • When you connect it to a standard 110-volt outlet, your Tesla will take between 20 to 40 hours to charge, depending on your model.
  • With a Tesla home charger, it should only take between 8 and 12 hours to charge. In short, it’s perfect for drivers who come in after work and park their car for the night. The only drawback of the Tesla home charger is that it costs about $1,700 to install.
If that seems a little pricey, you can also find Tesla Supercharger stations all over the country. If you find a local station, you can charge your car in 15 to 30 minutes.
While the charging time is an important consideration, you may also want to weigh the price of

on the electric vehicle you choose. Teslas qualify as luxury cars, so most insurance companies will charge you a higher premium to insure them.
