How long does it take to charge a Tesla with solar panels?

I want to install solar panels on the roof of my Tesla, but I’m worried about it taking too long to charge my car. How long will the solar panels need to charge my Tesla Model 3?

Good question! Solar panels are a really innovative idea, but it’s good to keep in mind that it will take about 10 days to charge a Tesla Model 3 with solar panels.
An average solar panel will generate about 20wH of energy per square foot, provided that it’s a sunny day and weather conditions are ideal. Although solar panels may be a great way to supplement traditional charging, you will likely not be able to use them exclusively.
It is more than possible to use solar power as a supplementary power source, however.
Tesla
offers solar panel installation to help capture energy from the sun and mitigate any overuse of your home’s power grid as you charge your vehicle. This may be a better solution than installing a solar panel just for your vehicle. Check out the Tesla website for more information.
