How long does it take to add another person to your car insurance?
My dad wants to add me to his car insurance policy. I'm 17 years old and I plan to keep living with him for the next few years. How long will it take?
Adding another driver to a policy is a pretty quick, straightforward process. Many insurers sell coverage that goes into effect on the same day that you buy it.
Your dad can update his car insurance policy online or over the phone. He’ll need to provide your info, including:
- Your name and birthday
- Your driver’s license number
- Your accident and ticket record
- Your Social Security number
