A classic conundrum. Generally, coolant lasts about two years in a car. Some formulas of coolant will last longer, but if you think it’s been at least a couple of years, you should definitely get your system checked out.
Have you tried an antifreeze tester to check on your coolant levels? You can buy one at an auto parts store for super cheap.
