How long do you have to wait before driving on a new asphalt driveway?

How long should I wait before I drive on my newly paved asphalt driveway? We just got it done and I forgot to ask how long we should wait before we drive on it again. I don’t want to damage my car but I’m also tired of parking in the street.

Congrats on your new driveway! Typically, it’s best to wait for five to seven days before driving on the new asphalt. However, you should wait at least seven to 10 days before parking on the blacktop itself.
It’s also a good idea to avoid placing anything with a thin edge or point on the blacktop for at least a year. Asphalt takes about a year to fully cure. Placing things like kickstands, lawn chairs, or trailer jacks on the asphalt before it’s cured can cause the object to sink into the pavement, especially if it’s hot outside.
