The length of time you have to file a
car insurance
claim depends on where you live.
Every state has a different statute of limitations in regards to car insurance claims. However, most states require that claims be filed within 30 to 60 days after the accident occurs. Some medical claims can be filed up to a year after the accident occurred.
Since only two weeks have passed since the accident occurred, you should still be able to submit a claim to your car insurance company. Call your car insurance claim department to confirm what their policies are.
If you were at fault or caused the damage, you may need
collision insurance
on your policy. If you don’t have it or the cost of repairs is under your deductible, you’ll be responsible for repairing the damage out of pocket.
If you don’t have collision insurance, now might be a great time to add it for your own protection. Use the
Jerry
app to compare quotes from dozens of insurers in just minutes so you always get the best rate possible.
