How long do I have to report a car insurance claim?

My car was broken into today. How many days do I have to make the car insurance claim?

I’m so sorry to hear that your car was broken into! That can be a major headache.
You should report your car insurance claim as soon as possible. While there may be justification for small delays, if you delay your report for a long period of time, you could be denied coverage because the insurance company was not able to investigate the claim right away.
The best plan of action is to file a police report and then call your insurance provider immediately. If you do not want a claim payout for the accident, you can report the claim as “record only.”
Keep in mind that vandalism and theft are comprehensive coverage, so it will be good to have this policy as a part of your coverage.
If personal items were stolen from your car, you can also make a claim on any homeowners or renters insurance you may have. Your car insurance policy has limited coverage for items that are not part of the car or for the car itself. Things like clothing, laptops, and groceries could be covered by another policy.
If you are looking to add more insurance to your current policy or change providers, look for quotes with Jerry. Jerry will collect the details of your current policy and allow you to compare your current rates with quotes from up to 50 providers. Once you make your decision, Jerry will help with all of the paperwork and phone calls, so you get all of the coverage with none of the hassles.
