How long do hybrid car batteries last?

I'm fairly certain that hybrid battery packs are super expensive to replace, and I want to budget accordingly. What's the average lifespan of a hybrid car battery?

While the actual battery life of a hybrid depends on the vehicle, all hybrid manufacturers in the United States are required by law to put the car’s battery pack under warranty for at least eight years or 100,000 miles. If the battery doesn’t last this long, the manufacturer must replace the battery as part of its extended warranty.
What’s more, if you purchase a used hybrid, manufacturers are legally required to transfer the balance of the original warranty to you. This means your used car will be under warranty till it hits the year or mile limit.
Additionally, some foreign automakers have hybrids with warranty periods of 10 years or 150,000 miles, so you could get quite the long life out of your hybrid before you need to pay for battery repairs out of pocket.
