How long do CV joints last?
I recently bought a used Chevy. It had 40,000 miles on it when I purchased it and I’ve driven it 20,000 more miles. Now, my auto guy is telling me I need to have the CV joints replaced—but isn’t 60,000 miles too early for a major repair? How long should CV joints last?

When you buy a used car, it can be hard to determine what kind of life it had before you. It sounds like your car may have been used on some rough terrain.
A CV joint usually lasts 70,000-130,000 miles but should be checked when your car goes in for
regular maintenance

Certain driving conditions may reduce the lifespan of any car component, including the CV joints.Your car’s CV joints help stabilize your ride by adjusting position to allow your wheels to move with the terrain of the road. So if you go off-roading or even just on streets with lots of bumps and potholes, CV joints (or the CV boot that covers them) may need to be replaced sooner.
