How long do car brakes last?

I have an older car, and it’s been screeching when I come to a stop. My mom said that means the brake pads are worn out. But I feel like I just got those replaced. How long are they supposed to last?

On average, brake pads last about 25,000 to 65,000 miles. Many factors can impact the lifespan, such as:
  • Driving habits
  • Climate
  • Quality of brakes chosen
It’s important to get your brakes looked at because braking is vital to keeping you and the people around you safe. It is common for repair shops to have warranties on their break pads, so visit the shop you went to last time. There is a chance you can get a new set for free!
