How long do car airbags last?

My dad just handed down his old truck to me, and it hasn't been serviced nor am I sure if its safety equipment is up-to-date. Is there a lifespan on airbags or should I not worry?

Generally speaking, airbags are built to last and be deployed for life-saving purposes at all times so their relative lifespan should last anywhere from 10 to 15 years.
If the airbag unit is sealed and not exposed to the elements, then you should feel at ease. However, if your car is older than 15 years then it would be wise to bring your vehicle in for a bag replacement and general maintenance.
If the car insurance policy on your dad’s truck is no longer active, it would be wise to get liability coverage as the minimum line of defense for any future accidents.
