How long do brake pads and rotors last?

I’ve had my car long enough now that I’m starting to wonder about this. My brakes seem fine, but I feel like I’ve driven so many miles that I have to probably do something with them soon. How long do brake pads and rotors last?

It’s good that you’re considering this while your brakes are still in good working order so you can plan ahead for their replacement when you need to. How long brake pads and rotors last will depend on their quality and what kind of driving conditions they’re exposed to.
It’s a wide range, but many manufacturers estimate their brake pads can last somewhere between 20,000 and 70,000 miles, and brake rotors can last 30,000 to 70,000 miles.
Because there can be so much variance in how long they last, it’s a good idea to get your braking system inspected every six months to help monitor how your brake pads and rotors are performing.
