"How is it legal to deny someone home insurance if they own a certain breed of dog? Seems unfair to me. "

Dogs' temperament can vary significantly based on the training and care they get from their owner. Writing off an entire breed due to some bad apples doesn't feel right to me.

“While this might seem unfair, the insurance company is agreeing, in exchange for a premium, to cover you in the event of a loss. It is up to the insurance company to decide what risks they are willing to accept.
Many insurance companies have identified certain dog breeds as a higher risk to insure against. Some companies may charge more for the policy, while others may decline to offer coverage altogether.
There are many advocacy groups for these dogs and their owners due to this very topic. If you are having trouble finding home insurance, a local advocacy group may be able to point you in the right direction. “
