How heavy is a car engine?

How heavy are most standard car engines? I think the weight of my engine may be slowing down my car, but I don’t know if it’s heavier than any other car engine.

Car engines are always heavy, though the weight of
your car engine
will depend on the kind of car that you drive. On average, car engines weigh around 350 pounds without the transmission.
That being said, weight does play a part in your car’s speed. One way to make your car lighter is to replace metal parts with plastic where possible. You could also opt for a smaller battery to reduce weight—although this option won’t always be possible.
Remember, your car insurance can sometimes increase when you modify your car. Call your provider and talk about the changes you’d like to make before you do anything permanent.
