How far is Jacksonville from Atlanta driving?

I’m taking a road trip through some of the southern states, and I’m trying to plan for each leg of the trip. How long should it take to go to Jacksonville from Atlanta driving?

Road trips
are always a fun way to spend a break, and the Southern United States is a historically and culturally rich area. Luckily, southern states are fairly close together, so you shouldn’t be facing any unreasonable driving times. That said, it should take about five hours to drive from Atlanta to Jacksonville.
Keep in mind that Jacksonville is the biggest north-eastern city in
Florida
. So stopping there will leave you somewhat isolated from other southern states. The closest state, aside from Georgia, would be Alabama—another few hours from Jacksonville by car.
Of course, there are also plenty of great stops along the way! The road from Atlanta to Jacksonville takes you straight through Georgia, so you’ll have plenty of great places to stop for food, activities, and music.
Here are some of the most worthwhile stops along your route:
  • Allman Brothers Band Museum: Originally from Jacksonville, the Allman Brothers Band signed with a Georgia-based studio—which is why the Allman Brothers Band Museum comes packed with original equipment and other unique memorabilia.
  • High Falls State Park: Beautiful waterfalls, rolling hills, and a calm lake for fishing make High Falls State Park a local favorite.
  • Matt’s Smalltown Pizza: Nothing says road trip like pizza, and Matt’s smalltown pizza is a local joint with a lot of personality!
Whether or not you decide to make stops along the way, you should make sure you have the right car insurance coverage before you hit the road. The purpose of car insurance is to make sure you aren’t solely financially responsible for damages you cause or accrue on the road. And when you go on a big road trip, the sheer amount of time you spend driving puts you at a higher risk of accidents.
