How far is it to drive from Florida to New York?

One of my friends goes to school in Ithaca, and I’m hoping to visit her, but I live in Sarasota. How far would the drive from Florida to New York be? I don’t want to take a plane because of COVID, but I really want to visit her.

It’s totally reasonable that you don’t want to take a plane, but driving from
Florida
to New York will take a while! Sarasota is about 1,273 miles from Ithaca, meaning that the drive would likely take just under 19 hours to complete, depending on traffic.
If you do decide to make the drive, you should try to stop to sleep at least twice along the way. Driving more than eight hours a day is not recommended, since
sleep deprivation
makes it dangerous to be behind the wheel.
As such, getting a hotel room or campsite would be the best way to stay safe while you’re on the road.
Depending on the route you choose to take, there are plenty of interesting cities and towns where you could stop along the way, including:
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Savannah, GA
  • Richmond, VA
  • Washington, D.C.
  • Harrisburg, PA
Before you head out, make sure your vehicle is covered by a great car insurance policy so that you’re ready for any unexpected issues on the road. When you sign up for
