How easy is it to remove someone from your insurance?

I recently broke up with my girlfriend. I need to remove her from my insurance policy. How can I do that? Is it hard?

It isn’t difficult to remove someone from your
car insurance
policy. You’ll just need to call your car insurance company and let them know. They will probably ask for proof that your girlfriend now lives at a different address or has her own insurance before they update your policy, so find out what documents they need from you and your ex-girlfriend.
Once you do so, your car insurance company will re-rate your policy. This is because changing any information on your policy impacts your rate, such as how many drivers or vehicles are covered under the policy.
If you have a good driving record and your ex-girlfriend did not, your rate will likely go down. On the other hand, if you don’t have a good driving record and your ex-girlfriend did, your rate may increase. If you and your ex-girlfriend were rated similarly on your policy, removing her will still give you a break on the cost since you aren’t insuring as many people.
Be ready to show a change of address for your ex-girlfriend and check with your insurance agent to find out what you need to get your insurance coverage updated.
