How does U.S. car insurance work in Mexico?

I have a full coverage car insurance policy here. Am I automatically covered in Mexico?

“While you may have a full coverage car insurance policy in the United States, it doesn’t mean you have coverage in Mexico.
U.S. liability coverage isn’t valid in Mexico, so you need additional coverage when you travel south of the border.
However, many U.S. insurers partner with Mexican car insurance companies for quick, easy quotes and policies. Many of these policies offer:
  • Roadside assistance
  • Liability coverage
  • Collision
  • Theft and vandalism
  • Legal assistance
You can typically customize your coverage to meet your requirements and comfort levels. If you’re thinking of purchasing Mexican auto insurance, start by researching which companies offer Mexican car insurance. Then, hop on the Jerry app and search quotes from dozens of reputable, top-notch insurers.”
