How does U.S. car insurance work in Mexico?

I have a full coverage car insurance policy here. Am I automatically covered in Mexico?

car insurance
 policy in the United States, it doesn’t mean you have coverage in Mexico.
U.S.
liability coverage
 isn’t valid in Mexico, so you need additional coverage when you travel south of the border.
However, many U.S. insurers partner with Mexican car insurance companies for quick, easy quotes and policies. Many of these policies offer:
