How does the Pontiac Torrent hood open?

My cousin gave me his old car, and I can't wait to start driving it! I need to do a little maintenance on it first, though, and need to check the oil. How do I open a Pontiac Torrent hood?

Checking the oil is a great first step in basic car maintenance. Popping the hood on your Pontiac Torrent is simple. Just follow these steps:
  • Locate and pull the hood release. It is to the lower left of the steering wheel, near the driver’s side door
  • Once you pull the hood release, you will hear the hood pop up, and it will raise slightly
  • Go to the front of your Pontiac and locate the safety latch. It is in the space between the hood and the car
  • Push the safety latch to the right and push the hood straight up
And that’s it!
