How does the Honda battery warranty work?

So I have a 2020 Honda Accord. We had a colder night the other day and I needed to jumpstart the battery. This isn’t the first time it’s died on me. I’m worried I’ll have to replace it soon but I’ve heard Honda might cover it through my warranty. How does the Honda battery warranty work?

Sorry to hear your
Honda Accord
has been acting up! Frequently needing to jump a battery could be a sign of trouble, so you’ll want to get it in for service asap.
That said,
Honda
does have a battery warranty that could save you the cost. Here’s how it works:
  • Your original battery is covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first)
  • If you buy an OEM replacement from a Honda-certified department, your replacement battery will be covered for 100 months (about 8 years)
Since your Accord is so new, your battery replacement should be covered by your original 3-year warranty as long as you take it to a Honda dealership or service center. Your new battery, however, will then be covered by the 100-month battery warranty. Here’s how that coverage works:
  • Any replacements or repairs within the first 36 months (at a Honda service center) are completely free of cost
  • Any replacements or repairs within the last 64 months will be partially covered
It’s important to drive your car regularly and keep it in less extreme temperatures as much as possible to preserve your battery’s health. If you do end up needing a replacement beyond your warranty’s coverage, it can cost between $75 and $200.
An easy way to avoid that extra expense is to maintain your car with a consistent
