How does the color of your car affect your chances of an accident?

I've heard that the color of your car can reduce your risk for accidents. I always want to be the safest driver I can be, but this sounds more like a myth. Is this true? And if it is, what color is the safest?

“Good on you for thinking critically about this rumor—this is a common myth! Accidents can happen for a variety of reasons so your car color won’t reduce your risk significantly.
With that said, there are certain colors that are more visible to other drivers. This may prevent some accidents; however, other safety features like properly functioning headlights, turn signals, and tail lights are more likely to reduce your risk of an accident.
Distracted driving and using poor judgement are the most common causes of accidents. If someone isn’t paying attention, the color of your car won’t change that and it won’t stop them from making a bad decision.
If you’re looking for as much protection as possible, good safety features and a good insurance policy are the best way to protect yourself.
