How does road salt impact the aluminum body of Ford vehicles?

I drive a Ford F150 with an aluminum body. When I first got my truck, I was told that the aluminum wouldn’t rust as quickly as other body panel materials. However, I just moved to a city where it snows all the time, and I’m worried that the road salt will cause the aluminum to rust. How will road salt impact my Ford’s aluminum body?

Ford
started using aluminum body panels on the F150 in 2015. While Ford truck frames continue to be made of steel, the body and bed of trucks are made of aluminum.
Though this material choice was controversial at the time, Ford decided to incorporate aluminum into its trucks because the material is lighter, stronger, and more resistant to rust.
While aluminum isn’t completely rust-resistant, it can withstand greater levels of moisture and water than steel, which means it will rust at a slower rate.
However, when you add road salt into the mix, the salt can cause a chemical reaction on your vehicle that will corrode the frame. Nevertheless, rusting and corrosion will still occur at a much slower rate, so you don’t have to worry about having a rusty truck anytime soon.
