How does car tuning work?

I need to get my car tuned and I have little to no idea of what that means. What happens to your car when you tune it?

Tuning a car means increasing a car’s power, handling, and speed by making a series of adjustments.
While there isn’t any single way to tune a vehicle, here are some common changes a mechanic might make while tuning your car:
  • Replacing existing pistons with lighter-weight pistons can make the engine more efficient.
  • Exchanging springs and shocks with stronger versions will help the car handle rough driving more effectively.
  • Removing excess parts can reduce the overall weight and increase your car’s speed.
While some of these steps are still viable, cars are more complicated today. That’s why tune-ups may now also include adjustments to the car’s computer to improve the vehicle’s functionality.
