How does a stall converter affect daily driving?

I want to soup up my Dodge Challenger, and I read that a stall converter can give me some stellar acceleration. However, I’m worried about what it might do to my car’s everyday performance. Can you daily drive with a stall converter?

That sounds like a great way to modify your
Dodge Challenger
to burst off the line! However, a stall converter will affect your daily driving by lowering your fuel economy substantially. This makes it a poor option if you’re using the car for commuting.
The reason that a stall converter boosts your acceleration is that it doesn’t allow the tires to break loose until you reach a higher RPM. With the added torque, your tires will rotate faster, which gives you a noticeable burst from a standstill.
With that added torque comes a loss of fuel economy. But if you’re not worried about your Challenger being a gas guzzler, go ahead and upgrade your stall converter from the stock model. You won’t be disappointed!
