How do you use cruise control in a Honda Civic?

I’m driving from San Francisco to San Diego, and my foot gets really tired every time I make the drive. My sister said that I should start using cruise control on the long stretches of freeway, but I don’t know how. What steps do I need to take to use cruise control in my Honda Civic?

While cruise control is definitely helpful for
long drives
on the freeway, note that it should never be used in cities or areas with traffic. That said, it’s easy enough to use when you’re in the right setting!
Follow these steps to use cruise control in your Honda Civic:
  • Press the cruise control button on your steering wheel while you’re on an open stretch of road.
  • Accelerate to your ideal cruising speed—it must be over 25 miles per hour.
  • Once you’ve reached the speed you’d like to maintain, press the DECEL/SET button on your steering wheel.
  • You should see the cruise control light on your instrument panel light up to show it’s active.
Just so you know, your cruise control may not stay consistent when you go uphill or downhill. So remain attentive at all times, as the set speed will not adjust to your circumstances. Press the gas or brakes to automatically turn off the cruise control.
