How do you use an electric car charger?

I’m trying to decide between getting a hybrid or electric car for my family. I like the idea of electric cars, but I think I’m mainly intimated by the whole charging process. Can you shed some light on how to use a battery charger for an electric car?

Hybrids and EVs are both reliable options that provide great fuel economy, especially on long family road trips! You’ll be happy to know that charging your electric vehicle is a pretty straightforward process. Chargers for electric vehicles are officially called Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). Here’s how to use an electric car battery charger:
  • Before you use your charger, it’s important to make sure you have the _correct type of outlet _for your charger to plug into.
  • Check out your home’s electrical panel to see what it can accommodate. Level 1 outlets are used for low power such as 120-volt AC, while Level 2 outlets are compatible with 240-volt AC.
  • You’ll notice that the head of the pump looks a lot like the standard utility plugs you’ve used in the past. Plug the head of the charger that looks like a plug into the outlet and plug the other end of the cord into your car.
  • If you’re at an EV charging station, first turn off your car. Then unlock the charging connector, lift it, plug it into your car and relax while it charges. When the session ends, press the button on the control panel to turn off the charger, and unplug the connector from your vehicle.
Now that you know _how easy it is to charge _an electric car, you can make the best decision when purchasing a new car for your family. While you’re at it, make sure your loved ones are also covered by the best car insurance that won’t break the bank.
