How do you unlock a car with a screwdriver?
I accidentally locked my keys in my car and I would rather not call a locksmith if I don’t have to. Is there a way to unlock my car with a screwdriver?

Although not recommended due to potential damage, unlocking a car door with a screwdriver is possible.
- Find the unlock button on the inside of your car door.
- Insert the screwdriver very carefully between the door and the frame. If you use too much pressure when you do this, you could break your lock or bend your door.
- Once you see the tip of the screwdriver inside of your car, insert a wire coat hanger or a similarly shaped tool and use it to press the unlock button.
- Before you open your door, remove the screwdriver to avoid damaging your door or the locking mechanism of your car.
If you can’t reach the locking mechanism or you’re worried about damaging your door, call a locksmith instead.
