How do you reset the tire pressure light on a Toyota Tundra?

I’ve been getting ready to go on a road trip, so I’m taking care of a bunch of last-minute car maintenance. Since my tire pressure light was on, I pumped up my tires—but the light still didn’t turn off. What’s the best way to reset the tire pressure light in my Toyota Tundra?

If your tire pressure light stays on after you’ve added air to your tires, this could be a sign of a leak, so only reset the light if you’re sure your tires are in good condition.
If you’re sure that your tires are in good shape, you can use one of these methods to reset the tire pressure light in your
Toyota Tundra
:
  • Drive over 50 miles per hour for at least 10 minutes: Sometimes, this helps your sensor recognize that your tires are properly inflated and, subsequently, can make your pressure light turn off.
  • Manually reset the pressure light: Turn the ignition in your car to the On position, but don’t turn on the engine. Hold down the tire pressure reset button under your steering wheel until you see the TPMS light flash three times then give your tire pressure sensor about 20 minutes to adjust.
  • Refill your tires: Fill all your tires to about 3 PSI over their recommended limit before completely deflating them. When you fill them back up to the recommended pressure, the light should turn off.
Hopefully, one of these methods will help you turn off the tire pressure light in your truck. But if the light still won’t turn off, consult your owner’s manual for further advice.
Keep in mind: Your tires may need different amounts of pressure at different times of the year. For example, you’ll typically want a higher pressure in the winter months because of the cold weather.
