Figuring out emergency brakes can be tricky since they vary from vehicle to vehicle. Here’s how to turn off the emergency brake on a 2021 Honda Civic:
  • Locate the emergency/parking brake button (a P with a circle surrounding it) near your gearshift lever. If it’s on, the red light on the button and the emergency brake indicator light on your instrument cluster will be illuminated.
  • Press your brake pedal while you push down on the emergency/parking brake button.
Both lights will turn off once you’ve turned off your emergency brake.
It’s as simple as that!
