How do you transfer insurance to another car?
I just bought a new car and would like to transfer my existing policy to this car, how do I do this?
Congratulations on the new car! To transfer an existing policy to a new vehicle, you can call your insurance company, update your policy online, or update using your company’s app.
Here is a list of the information you will need to have handy:
- Effective date (the day you will pick up the car and drop off the old one)
- VIN for the new car
- Leasing or finance company name and address if applicable
- List of required coverages
Make sure to input the correct effective date for the policy change to avoid a lapse in coverage.
Once the policy is updated, you can have the new policy paperwork emailed to you or directly to the dealership!
With these changes, the rate of your policy may change. If you want to shop around for a cheaper insurance policy, Jerry is here to help. Jerry takes care of all the paperwork and phone calls to provide you with competitive quotes in under a minute.
