How do you transfer a car title in Maine?

I'm getting a new car from my brother. The car is in his name, so he said he'd transfer the title to me. We live in Maine, how would he transfer the title?

In terms of the car title,
transferring the title
isn’t too difficult.
First, head to your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). There you’ll be asked for:
  • The original title, signed by your brother
  • Odometer reading
  • Proof of payment of excise tax
  • Payment for the title transfer fee
  • Driver’s license
Once the DMV has this information, they can officially transfer the title to your name, making you the vehicle’s new owner!
As you’ll need insurance before transferring the title, make sure you have a good policy! If you want help insuring your new car, the
