How do you switch your car insurance to another state?

Next month my family and I are moving states. Just what goes into switching my car insurance when we get there?

Moving is always exciting, I wish you and your family the best of luck! The easiest way to get the ball rolling on your
car insurance
 is to call your insurance agent.
Once you notify your insurance carrier about the move, your agent can help you figure out:
  • If your current insurance carrier operates in your new state
  • If your new state requires more insurance coverage than you currently have
  • How much you will pay for insurance in your new state
You will also need to transfer your driver’s license and registration to your new state. Each state has a different deadline for this, so be sure to research the rules before you arrive.
Even if your current insurer offers coverage in your new state, we recommend you shop around for the best possible prices.
