How do you switch car insurance to another company?
What is the best way to switch from one car insurance company to another? I feel like my needs aren't being addressed with a current provider and I'd like to make a change.

Switching from one car insurance company to another is as easy as shopping around, buying a new policy, and canceling your old one. You can do so at any time and for any reason. However, you may be required to pay a cancellation fee.
If you current provider has subpar service, it’s likely worth switching no matter what. Follow these steps to find your perfect provider:
- Define your coverage needs. Since you’re changing providers, you should also address your insurance policy. Maybe it’s time to drop excess coverage or pick up extraliability.
- Shop around for better quotes. You can go directly to insurance providers, or you can go through an agent or broker. But one way or another, you should get at least three quotes to get a feel for your options.
- Pick a provider. Choose your new provider and purchase a policy. But remember, your first option won’t always be your best. Take your time and pick the one that you feel best meets your needs.
- Cancel your old policy. Only cancel your old policy once you have a new one.Lapses in coveragecan cause a spike in your monthly rates, so make sure your plans overlap a day.
