How do you stop squeaky car windows?

What can I do to stop my squeaky car windows from making so much noise? It’s like nails on a chalkboard every time I roll them down.

Answer
Driving with your windows down on a nice day is one of the joys of owning a car! Luckily, you can follow these steps to stop your window from squeaking:
  • Clean the window seal with soap and water to get rid of any loose debris.
  • Spray a moly lubricant inside the seal on both sides of the window frame. Start at the top of the window frame and work your way down.
  • Wipe down the car body when you’re done to get rid of any excess lubricant.
  • Let it soak for a few minutes, then roll the window up and down a few times.
  • If the squeak isn’t gone, you can spray more lubricant into the seal of the window, this time with the glass all the way up.
  • Repeat these steps until the squeak is gone!
Hopefully, that helped you stop your window from squeaking. If it still hasn’t stopped, it may be time to bring your car to a mechanic for a professional diagnosis.
