How do you stop someone from driving through your yard?
My house sits on a sharp curve. People are always cutting the corner and driving straight through my yard, making it a muddy, holey mess. How do you keep cars off your lawn?

Inconsiderate drivers are the worst! Fortunately, there are several things you can try to stop someone from driving through your yard.
First and foremost, you should notify the proper authorities. Don’t call 911 or anything! But if you belong to a homeowner’s association or something similar, you can let them know and ask about possible solutions.
In addition, here are a few modifications you can make to your yard that might help keep drivers out:
- Wooden stakes. Hammering a few wooden stakes in the yard will create a barrier that wards off those inconsiderate neighbors.
- Rocks. A good-sized boulder or several large rocks can deter yard-drivers—unless they want to ruin their cars.
- Fence. Not the cheapest or easiest solution, but putting up a fence is a great way to keep your yard protected—in more ways than one.
- Hedge. If you’re in it for the long run, you may want to consider creating a hedge of bushes or shrubbery around the border of your yard.
- Flags. If you’re looking for an easy, temporary solution, lining the corner with flags will make it clear to drivers that cutting the corner isn’t an option anymore.
The bottom line is whether it’s rocks, bushes, fenceposts, or stakes in the ground, creating a hindrance of any kind can make it much more difficult (if not impossible) to drive through your yard.
