How do you stop cars from driving on your lawn?

I live in a neighborhood full of teens. One house hosts parties all the time, but the cops won’t do anything to stop it. On numerous occasions, teens have driven through my lawn, costing me hundreds of dollars in landscaping. How can you keep neighbors from driving on your grass?

Sorry to hear that you live next to the party house in your neighborhood! Fortunately, you can stop cars from driving on your lawn a number of ways:
  • Put up a short, decorative fence. While cars can still drive over the fence, it should act as a deterrent to prevent any major incidents.
  • Place a camera on the front of your house with a noticeable light on it. This should both act as a deterrent and capture the license plate of anyone who decides to drive on your lawn.
  • Place boulders or large rocks along the edge of your property line between the sidewalk or road and your lawn. If the driver doesn’t notice the boulder, their car will.
Do you park in your driveway? If so, you might also be concerned about cars hitting your vehicle—and rightfully so. Consider adding
comprehensive coverage
to your car insurance policy if you don’t already have it. Comprehensive will protect you against damage from vandalism.
