How do you set up a dashcam for a Tesla Model 3?

I recently learned my Tesla Model 3 has a dashcam. I’d like to set it up for my own safety and peace of mind. How can I set up the dashcam for my Tesla Model 3?

Having a dashcam is a great safety feature! While many cars require you to set up your own dashcam, your
Tesla Model 3
comes with one built in. To set up the dashcam for a Tesla Model 3, you’ll need a USB drive.
Your dashcam will automatically turn on when your car is on and a properly formatted USB is inserted in the front USB port or the port inside your glove box.
Your Tesla can also format the USB drive for you. To do this, you’ll need a 64 GB USB that’s USB 2.0 compatible. It also needs to have a sustained write speed of 4 MB.
Once your USB is formatted and inserted into the proper port, you’ll see the dashcam icon enabled on your touchscreen. You can also customize your dashcam’s setting by going to Controls and then Safety.
After you get your dashcam set up, consider taking a minute to review your car insurance. Having a good car insurance policy is also a great way to ensure your safety while on the road.
