How do you sell a Tesla?
What’s the best way to sell my Tesla? I ran into some financial problems recently, and I’d like to sell my Tesla to help pay for a cheaper car.

While financial trouble can be frustrating, your Tesla is a great asset in times of need! Selling your Tesla will work a lot like
selling any other car
. You’ll need to find the right paperwork, sign over the title, and report to the DMV.Follow these steps to sell your Tesla:
- Research your car to find a reasonable asking price.
- Find a buyer and agree on final sales terms.
- When you finally sell your Tesla and money has changed hands, you’ll need totransfer the title. As the seller, you’ll only need to fill out the required information—such as odometer reading and condition—and sign the back of the document.
- Write up a bill of sale—you can find the document on your state DMV website.
- Remove it from your insurance.
Remember, you should only take your old car off your insurance after it’s in the new owner’s possession. If you take it off, you may be responsible for any damage it incurs.
