How do you sell a car in Michigan?

, you’ll need to start by locating your car’s title. If you can’t find your title
, you can get a duplicate with your local Secretary of State (SOS) branch. Fill out the following information on the title:- Odometer reading
- Sale date
- Sale price
- Signature
It’s best to go with the buyer to an SOS branch office to complete the sale, where you will need to bring:
- The title
- Identification
- Proof of Michigan insurance
The buyer will need to sign and write their name and address on the proper title documents in the buyer section. Once the sale is complete, you will also need to remove your license plate from the car before handing it over to the buyer.
