How do I reset oil life in a Honda Pilot?

The oil life light on my dashboard keeps lighting up. It looks like a little wrench on the instrument cluster. How can I reset the oil life on my Honda Pilot?

The
Honda Pilot
oil life light means it’s time for an
oil change
. Your mechanic should reset the light for you once this routine maintenance is complete.
Follow these steps to reset your Honda Pilot oil life light if you change your own oil, or the mechanic failed to reset the light for you:
For an analog instrument cluster:
  • Step 1: Turn the key to the on position, but don’t start the engine.
  • Step 2: Press the trip button to the left of the speedometer until you see “Service.”
  • Step 3: Hold the trip button until the oil life percentage on the instrument cluster starts blinking.
  • Step 4: Release and hold the button again until it resets to 100%.
For a digital instrument cluster:
  • Step 1: Turn the ignition on, but don’t start the engine.
  • Step 2: Navigate to the “Maintenance Info” menu with the up and down arrows on your steering wheel.
  • Step 3: Enter into the “Maintenance Info” menu and scroll down until you highlight “Oil Life”.
  • Step 4: Press and hold the reset button on the steering wheel until “Maintenance Reset” appears on the screen.
  • Step 5: Highlight “Reset” and select it with the reset button on your steering wheel.
If neither of these methods works, a mechanic or Honda service center should be able to reset the oil life light for you.
